The Embassy of Lebanon in Baghdad
released the following communiqué:
In view of the
difficult conditions that Iraq is passing through currently
and the ensuing dangers on people’s lives as well as private
and public properties, the Lebanese Embassy in Baghdad calls
upon all Lebanese citizens residing in Iraq and those who
wish to go there to take into consideration those dangers in
utmost seriousness. It further advises the Lebanese to take
extreme caution and precaution during their stay in Iraq and
in their movements. The Embassy draws attention to the fact
that movement from, to, and within Iraq, if not for very
necessary reasons, is still not safe or secure, and will be
at the individual’s personal responsibility.
Based on its concern about the safety and interests of
Lebanese citizens, and on its close knowledge of the events,
the Lebanese Embassy in Baghdad, hopes that its citizens
will cooperate with this warning. It also renews its hope to
the resumption of security and stability in Iraq and wishes
prosperity and well-being to its people. The Lebanese
Embassy further hopes for the cooperation of all those
responsible for kidnapping innocent Lebanese, and calls upon
them to treat them in a fraternal and moral manner, and to
release them immediately.

2006, all Lebanese nationals must hold the new magnetic
Identification Card (ID). We encourage all members of

arrival to Lebanon, for the new ID. The Lebanese
security agencies will enforce punitive measures against
Lebanese citizens who do not hold this ID while in
Lebanon. Lebanese Immigrants will be exempted from
these measures on condition they apply for this ID upon
their arrival to Lebanon, noting that the period for the
issuance of this ID will not exceed two weeks.
